COVID-19 Updates

We know there is a lot of new information surrounding the school year. We are mindful of concerns and are preparing for the coming school year while addressing the physical, mental and social well-being of our students and faculty.

It is our commitment to provide the best academic advancement for our students and we recognize the importance of our role in working with our parents who have jobs and responsibilities and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue to navigate this situation together in faith. We realize that many families rely on Lakeside to love and teach their children in an environment they may not be able to achieve at home. We are committed to not leave any child behind.

We understand these choices are important and personal to each person and we respect everyone's decision to protect their families in the ways they choose.

Here are some precautionary measures we are taking to ensure the safest possible environment for your child:

  • We will use a touch-free thermometer for temperature checks each morning for students, staff and visitors. If a fever or cold/flu-like symptoms are present, your child will be required to be checkout and only return once they are showing no symptoms and are fever-free without medication for 48 hours.

  • If anyone tests positive for Covid-19, we ask they remain off campus for 14 days and only return once they are showing no symptoms and are fever-free without medication for 48 hours.

  • Masks are mandated by the state. If your child has a medical condition that prohibits them from wearing a mask (anxiety, difficulty breathing, skin irritation) we ask that you sign a no-mask waiver for your child. Please watch the video below for further instructions.

  • Our teachers will not be wearing masks, as it interferes with effective instruction, but they will be wearing clear face shields and will also have their temperatures checked daily and minimize proximity to students.

  • Sanitation stations will be provided around the campus and in the classrooms and will be used upon each entry to the building.

  • Lunches will be limited to class size only. There will be no cafeteria use and lunch will be had in the classroom or outdoors, weather permitting.

  • Weekly chapel gatherings will have students seated every other chair and spread out in rows.

  • The drinking fountain will not be available but we will have a water bottle refill station.

  • Teachers will disinfect classrooms daily.

  • Students will not have shared supplies.

  • We're not providing any distant learning options at this time, but make up work will be made available for students who are quarantined with ample time to make up the work.

  • We will be monitoring this situation as it continues to evolve and maintain the best practices for your child's safety.
